The high-level partners meeting has been held in Leuven, Belgium, on 30-31 January 2023
EDITH Consortium gathers in Leuven for its second plenary meeting on virtual human twins (VHTs). Discussions of this meeting center around the five pre-selected use-cases of EDITH. They are health applications developed by EDITH’s partners that include cancer, heart disease, intensive care, osteoporosis, and brain disorders.
The goal is to create a sustainable virtual twin ecosystem with the help of a repository of resources and a simulation platform. The meeting will also address sustainability and how EDITH can lead the way in developing a fully integrated VHT, starting from single organ digital twins.
Before the high-level partners meeting, consortium leaders met with the Industry Advisory Board, a group of representatives from major companies such as Philips and J&J and other SMEs from the Avicenna Alliance and DIGITALEUROPE.
“We had a fruitful conversation with industry representatives and a speaker from the European Commission – said Liesbet Geris, Professor in Biomechanics and Computational Tissue Engineering at the University of Liège and KU Leuven and Director of the VPH Institute who coordinates the CSA – the Industry Advisory Board expressed a high willingness to collaborate on realising the EDITH objectives, and the European Commission showed its support for the strong industry engagement in the project.”
